Build A Boat
Course Description:
Do you like to build things? Are you ready to use the Workshop to its fullest potential?
In this seminar, a group of students will work with Mr. Sasveld and the partner organization All Hands Boatworks to build a wooden boat with a capacity of 3 persons. Twice a week, All Hands Boatworks will come to Pathways High and work with the students on the physical building of the boat.
On the other days of the week, students will work to sharpen their math skills as they relate to the building of the boat. Math concepts like measurement, scale drawing, and geometry will be explored and used to help build the boat. Students have the capacity to earn both mathematical standards and design thinking standards in this seminar co-taught with a partner organization.
